Varje sak knuffade mitt nummer i en vecka eller tv\u00e5, sedan drev det alltid tillbaka till 34.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Efter ett tag b\u00f6rjade jag f\u00e4sta mer mening till antalet \u00e4n vad som f\u00f6rmodligen var h\u00e4lsosamt.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jag skulle vakna, kolla ringen och jag b\u00f6rjade behandla po\u00e4ngen som f\u00f6ruts\u00e4gbar f\u00f6r hur min dag skulle k\u00e4nna innan jag ens stod upp. En l\u00e5g po\u00e4ng och jag k\u00e4nner mig redan bakom. Jag visste att det inte var h\u00e4lsosamt, och jag kunde inte heller tyckas sluta.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Sedan n\u00e4mnde en kollega vagusnervstimulering.\u00a0<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hon sp\u00e5rade ocks\u00e5 sin HRV och hon sa att hennes hade kl\u00e4ttrat stadigt sedan hon b\u00f6rjade anv\u00e4nda en enhet. Jag hade vagt h\u00f6rt talas om tekniken och arkiverat den under en annan wellness-trend, men hon \u00e4r inte n\u00e5gon som faller f\u00f6r nonsens, och hon visade mig sitt diagram. Trendlinjen var konsekvent upp\u00e5t.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jag kontrollerade f\u00f6retagets webbplats, s\u00e5g 30-dagars pengarna tillbaka-garanti och best\u00e4mde mig f\u00f6r att k\u00f6ra ett ordentligt experiment. Trettio dagar, ringen p\u00e5 varje natt, en dagbok varje morgon, behandlar den som alla andra saker jag n\u00e5gonsin har studerat p\u00e5 mig sj\u00e4lv. Det var en svag stickning, inget mer.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under tre dagar gjorde min HRV exakt ingenting: den l\u00e4ste 34, sedan 35, sedan 34. Jag hade sett tillr\u00e4ckligt med plattlinjeinterventioner i mina egna data f\u00f6r att k\u00e4nna igen det bekanta m\u00f6nstret f\u00f6r ingen meningsfull f\u00f6r\u00e4ndring.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Jag har redan utarbetat \u00e5terbetalningsmeddelandet i mitt huvud.<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">P\u00e5 dag fyra l\u00e4ste jag manualen ordentligt och ins\u00e5g att jag hade gjort korta sessioner. Den rekommenderade varaktigheten var minst femton minuter, och jag hade gjort mindre \u00e4n tio. S\u00e5 jag bar det i drygt femton minuter medan jag svarade p\u00e5 e-postmeddelanden samma morgon.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Och jag m\u00e4rkte en subtil skift.\u00a0<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mina axlar var inte runt mina \u00f6ron, min k\u00e4ke var inte knuten och ett lager av bakgrundssp\u00e4nning som jag s\u00e4llan m\u00e4rkte hade l\u00e4ttat, var borta. Jag k\u00e4nde mig pl\u00f6tsligt inte annorlunda. Jag antog att det var ett fel. Men dag tio kom in p\u00e5 43, dag elva p\u00e5 40 och dag tolv p\u00e5 44. Mitt veckov\u00e4rde hade hoppat fr\u00e5n 34 till 42.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jag b\u00f6rjade sk\u00e4rmdumpning varje morgon eftersom jag verkligen inte litade p\u00e5 vad jag s\u00e5g.<\/span><\/p><p><b>De subjektiva f\u00f6r\u00e4ndringarna blev mer m\u00e4rkbara ungef\u00e4r en vecka senare.\u00a0<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jag var fortfarande i samma jobb, fortfarande i samma m\u00f6ten och svarade fortfarande p\u00e5 samma volym meddelanden, men jag slutade inte dagen med att k\u00e4nna mig mentalt utarmad. Jag fick mina sju timmar, min s\u00f6mneffektivitet s\u00e5g bra ut p\u00e5 papper, men jag vaknade groggy oftare \u00e4n inte, och jag antog att det bara var min normala.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jag hade b\u00e4r enheten i en timme f\u00f6re s\u00e4ngen i tv\u00e5 veckor.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I vecka tre b\u00f6rjade jag vakna och k\u00e4nde att jag faktiskt sov. Det var inte en dramatisk, v\u00e4l vilad h\u00f6g, bara en fast k\u00e4nsla, den typen av morgon d\u00e4r jag inte beh\u00f6vde tjugo minuter och ett kaffe f\u00f6r att k\u00e4nna mig helt vaken.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Ringen s\u00e4kerhetskopierade den, och det var den del som intresserade mig mest.\u00a0<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Min djupa s\u00f6mn var ungef\u00e4r tolv minuter om natten, min vilopuls \u00f6ver natten hade sjunkit fr\u00e5n 58 till 54, och min HRV kl\u00e4ttrade under s\u00f6mnen, inte bara p\u00e5 morgonl\u00e4sningen.
